The production methods of FRP are basically divided into two major categories, namely, wet contact and dry compression molding. According to the technical characteristics, there are hand paste forming, laminating, RTM, extrusion, molding, winding and so on. Hand paste forming also includes hand paste, bag pressure, spray, wet paste low pressure and non mode hand paste.

At present, there are four kinds of molding methods used most in the world.

Hand paste: the main use of the country is Norway, Japan, the UK, Denmark and so on.

(2) spray method: the main use of the country has Sweden, the United States, Norway and so on.

(3) mold pressure: the main use of the country has Germany and so on.

(4) RTM Law: the main use of the country, the European and American countries, Japan.

More than 90% of the FRP products in our country are produced by hand paste method, and the others are molding method, winding method, laminating method, etc. Japanese hand paste still accounts for 50%. From all over the world, hand paste still accounts for a considerable proportion, indicating that it is still alive. Hand paste is characterized by the use of wet resin molding, simple equipment, less cost, one can paste more than 10m of the whole product. The disadvantages are low mechanization, long production cycle and unstable quality. In China, the technology and equipment of extrusion, spraying and winding are introduced from abroad. With the development of FRP industry, the new technology will appear continuously.

FRP name glass fiber reinforced plastic. It is a composite material with glass fiber and its products (glass cloth, tapes, felt, yarn, etc.) as reinforced material and synthetic resin as a matrix material. The concept of composite material is a material that can't meet the requirement of use. It needs to be combined by two or more than two kinds of materials to form another material that can meet people's requirements, that is composite material. For example, a single type of glass fiber, though high in intensity, is loose in fiber. It can only bear tensile force, can not bear bending, shearing and compressive stress, and is not easy to make fixed geometry. It is loose software. This makes up a glass fiber reinforced plastic matrix composite. Because of the strength of the equivalent steel containing glass components, also has the properties of glass color, shape, corrosion resistance, electrical insulation, heat insulation, such as glass, as the history of the formation of popular name "glass steel", the term was coined by the former national building materials industry minister Comrade Lai Jifa in 1958, the system expanded to the national building materials are still widely used. It can be seen that the meaning of FRP is glass fiber reinforced plastics, synthetic resin as binder of reinforced plastics, and abroad, called glass fiber reinforced plastics. With the rapid development of China's glass steel industry, as a reinforcing material of plastic base, has been expanded to glass fiber carbon fiber, boron fiber, aramid fiber, alumina fiber and silicon carbide fiber reinforced plastics, no doubt, these new fibers, some high performance fiber reinforced composite materials, glass and steel this cannot be summarized as. Considering the origin and development of history, fiberglass composite materials are usually used so that the name is more comprehensive.
